Finnish Yule is a combination of the magic and atmosphere of the dark arctic winter, the light of the sparkling snow and candles, shining hope to the people huddling together. We asked artist Katariina Kirves to design our Christmas album cover.<\/p>\n

The Tumman taivaan taika album contains multiple previously unpublished pieces. Our choir\u2019s house composer, an alumnus of the choir\u00a0Elina Majuri<\/strong>\u00a0composed two songs for our album. The lyrics for the piece Tumman taivaan taika are created by the multi-talent of theatre and culture sector\u00a0Katariina Lantto<\/strong>and the lyrics for Jouluy\u00f6 are a poem written by\u00a0Immi Hell\u00e9n<\/strong>\u00a0in 1916.<\/p>\n

Composer and choir conductor\u00a0Sabrina Ljungberg's<\/strong>\u00a0joyful Tule armas joulu! is composed based on a poem from the 1870s written by\u00a0Sakari Topelius.<\/strong>\u00a0Metsien joulu is a song that was originally composed for the vocal group Viisi and has now been arranged for a mixed choir by composer Virpi Eroma.\u00a0Virpi Eroma.<\/strong>\u00a0Familiar Yuletide carols are performed on the album in both traditional versions and refreshing new arrangements.<\/p>\n

The album was recorded in May 2022 and released on 24 November 2022.<\/p>\n
